We live in a world that is uncertain and unpredictable. We see individuals, families, communities floundering as they deal with today’s challenges:
Encounter forces they can’t predict, control, or even imagine
Face a broadly diverse range of experiences, individuals, and opportunities that are often contradictory and confusing
Experience that their lives are entangled with others’ decisions and actions
Watch this webinar to learn about specific competencies required to thrive in such a world. We will explore what we need to learn for ourselves; to teach our children; to encourage our employees; and to connect with our neighbors and our larger communities.

Change is perpetual in a complex system, so your response must be perpetual, too. What worked yesterday will probably not meet the same needs in an emergent future. Because of the inevitability of change, you must develop resilience that serves you across time and challenge. We see resilience as finding what is fit for function now and in an emerging future, not returning to some earlier state of happy equilibrium.
In this Live Virtual Workshop, you will learn some simple rules for finding adaptive responses to help you thrive in unpredictable and inevitable change.
Build Adaptive Capacity

In today’s world, you can’t always know what’s next. In fact, sometimes, given the complexity of our world, you can’t even know much about what’s now! At any given moment, about all you can see is this moment. All you can explore is what you know. How do you learn to question what you can’t see and find out more about what you don’t know? How can you use the HSD’s practices of inquiry?
Ask questions that help you see into the dynamics of the world around you
Engage others in individual and group inquiries using these perspectives
Experience the benefits of engaging in inquiry in today’s turbulent and uncertain landscape
Join us to explore this new way of stepping into questions that open a world of possibility to you. In human systems dynamics, we learn to stand in inquiry to see patterns clearly, seek to understand, and act with courage in the face of uncertainty and turbulence.
Teaching & LearningCollaborate to Create Community
When Glenda Eoyang, Founder and Executive Director of Human Systems Dynamics Institute, invited me to co-facilitate an HSD Adaption Action Lab focused on transcending racism and “othering,” I immediately said yes for a couple of irresistible reasons.
A linguistic landscape can be found on any school campus – it is essentially the way in which language – both written and verbal – is used to covey the beliefs and foundations of an organization. As a fall semester student teacher at Lawson Middle School in Cupertino, Ca, I had the privilege of experiencing and discovering exactly what Lawson values: the whole child.
